The experience
What is Kawasan Falls canyoneering?
Kawasan Falls canyoneering is a guided river trek through the Matutinao River canyon in Badian, southern Cebu. The route follows the river downstream for 4 to 5 kilometres through narrow gorges, turquoise plunge pools, natural water slides, rope swings, and cliff jumps ranging from 3 to 12 metres.
The activity ends at Kawasan Falls itself: a three-tier cascading waterfall with a brilliant turquoise pool fed by a cold mountain spring. On a private tour, your group arrives before the mainstream crowds, meaning you often have the pool to yourselves for the first hour.
The cliff jumps: what to expect
Cliff jumping is the signature thrill of the route. Jumps are optional — guides clearly mark which platforms are 3m, 6m, 8m, and 12m, and there is zero pressure to jump anything you're not comfortable with. The most popular jump is the 6-metre platform into a natural plunge pool.
All jump sites are checked by guides before each group enters the water. Life vests are mandatory throughout the entire canyon section.
